Job Summary
Medical Assistant at Prisma Health Urgent Care overseeing patient preparation, triage, vital signs, and administration of medications and injections. Responsibilities include obtaining and documenting patient history in EMR, collecting routine lab specimens, starting IVs and catheters, performing basic clinical and laboratory procedures, supporting Occupational Medicine services (drug screening, audiograms, pulmonary function testing), and ensuring HIPAA/OSHA compliance. Requires certification/registration as a Medical Assistant and shows flexibility for 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays; travel to other Prisma Health Urgent Care locations as needed. Safety-focused team player delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: certified or registered as a Medical Assistant through an accredited organization (e.g., AMT for RMA/NHA or AAMA for CMA)
- Experience: 1+ year of healthcare experience preferred (urgent care or ER a plus)
- Skills: Proficiency in venipuncture, injections, and clinical procedures
- Technical Skills: Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, EPIC preferred
- Flexibility: ability to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Team Player: positive, proactive approach to patient care and collaboration
