Job Summary
Prepare treatment rooms, escort patients to exam areas, and record medical histories and vital statistics. Perform standard care procedures including drawing blood, checking vitals, collecting lab samples, and administering medications as directed. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, sterilize medical instruments, and operate diagnostic testing equipment. Explain treatment procedures and instructions to patients while ensuring proper waste disposal and pre-screening for surgical consults. Organize work in conjunction with the provider and Facilities Manager. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a professional, courteous and friendly manner at all times
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
- Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies
- Strong knowledge and understanding of electronic medical record systems
- Knowledge of diagnostic testing equipment and sterilization equipment
- Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Required specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certification or Registered Medical Assistant
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
