Job Summary
Medical Assistant role at BHMG Oncology Lexington, KY providing direct patient care in an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, facilitating patient flow, managing the EPIC electronic health record, scheduling appointments, processing prior authorizations, coordinating tests and procedures, and performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and phlebotomy upon clinical competency. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to support providers and ensure efficient patient care; role requires regular on-site presence.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting
- Direct, hands-on patient care experience (obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history, medications, clinical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections)
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands-on patient experience OR
- Basic computer skills, EMR experience a plus
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) within 90 days of hire
- BAT and DOT certifications within 90 days of hire for Occupational Medicine Medical Assistants
- Preferred: Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP OR graduate of an accredited LPN/RN program with licensure
- Clinical competency assessment and MA orientation upon hire
