Job Summary

Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient orthopedic clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Manages EPIC EMR, schedules appointments, handles prior authorizations, and coordinates tests/procedures. May perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and phlebotomy after achieving clinical competency. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential; role requires regular on-site presence to perform essential functions.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required
  • Direct patient care experience (vital signs, patient history, medications, clinical procedures) or graduate of MA program with hands-on experience
  • EMR experience (EPIC) preferred
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • BAT and DOT certifications within 90 days of hire for Occupational Medicine
  • Preferred Certification: CMA, MA, or RN/LPN with current licensure; related certifications (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA) noted
