Job Summary
Prepare examination rooms and equipment, then receive participants to take and document vital signs, weights, and brief visit histories. Monitor patients for variances, report findings to clinical staff, and handle infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions. Perform phlebotomy services including venipuncture and specimen preparation as needed. Travel to all clinic sites to support coverage and maintain confidentiality of all participant information. Requires graduation from an accredited program, certification, and experience with frail or elderly populations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Must be able to travel to all clinic sites as needed to support clinic coverage needs
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers
- Must be efficient with computer applications such as email, navigating the internet, using electronic timekeeping, and Electronic Health Records
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant with one of the National Certifying organizations; The American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), The American Medical Technologists (RMA), The National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), The National HealthCareer Association (CCMA), and National Association for Health Professionals (NRCMA)
- One year of experience with a frail or elderly population, typically in a hospital, long term care facility, or home health care program
