Job Summary
Medical Assistant providing clinical and administrative support in behavioral health services across SNF, outpatient, and telehealth settings. Responsibilities include assisting clinical providers with patient care, educating patients on treatment, medications, and continuity of care; updating patient charts with medical history, test results, and allergies and ensuring HIPAA compliance; handling patient communications, scheduling, prior authorizations, and referrals; and performing tasks to support smooth operation of the outpatient program. Required competencies include clinical knowledge, strong communication and interpersonal skills, critical thinking, organizational abilities, and proficiency with Windows, MS Office, and EHR systems (preferably AthenaOne). Education/experience emphasize a high school diploma or equivalent with MA program preferred and at least 2 years in a healthcare-related role, plus ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant Program is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a healthcare-related field as Medical Assistant or similar role
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Record-keeping system
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Proficiency in use of EHR software systems, preferably AthenaOne
- Ability to learn, execute tasks, and train others on EMR functions and workflows
