Job Summary
Medical Assistant for Baptist Health Behavioral Health in an outpatient setting providing direct patient care and clinical support. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, medication reconciliation, collecting patient history, coordinating patient flow, and managing the EPIC EMR. Responsible for scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. May perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and phlebotomy after completing clinical competency. Strong communication and organizational skills required; on-site presence is required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office/clinic or similar setting with direct patient care
- hands-on patient care (vital signs, documenting patient history, medications, clinical procedures such as EKG, phlebotomy, injections or vaccines)
- Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands-on patient experience
- Clinical competency assessment upon hire and MA orientation
- Basic computer skills and EMR system experience
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
- BAT and DOT certifications for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire
- Preferred: Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP) or graduate of accredited LPN/RN program with unrestricted licensure
