Job Summary
Perform patient care under the direction of a physician or Advanced Practice Provider in an ambulatory care setting. Gathers patient data through interview and observation, assists patients with examination preparation, and supports physicians during procedures and routine treatments. Administers approved medications, documents treatments and patient education, and acts as a liaison to schedule specialty testing or consultations. Processes incoming and outgoing calls using clinical judgment, assists with reception and scheduling, and ensures compliance with infection control and department policies. Requires current BLS certification and CCMA, CMA, or CMAC certification. Full-time, 40-hour week in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school
- At least one (1) year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient care setting
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification
- Current certification or registration by one of the following agencies within 6 months of hire: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
