Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic by obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Manage the electronic health record (EPIC), schedule appointments, process medication requests, handle prior authorizations, and coordinate tests and procedures. Perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy upon successful completion of clinical competency. This full-time, first-shift role requires regular on-site presence at the Shelbyville Rd area location.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- 1+ year(s) of experience in a medical office, clinic or similar setting
- Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
- Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
- BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire
- Basic computer skills
- experience with EMR System
Desired Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
- Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
