Job Summary
Medical Assistant role at Prisma Health Urgent Care in Irmo, SC, performing patient preparation, triage and vital signs, documenting patient history in EMR (EPIC), collecting lab specimens, administering medications and injections, starting IVs and placing catheters, performing basic clinical and laboratory procedures, supporting Occupational Medicine services, ensuring HIPAA/OSHA compliance, and handling routine administrative tasks. Requires certification as Medical Assistant, 12-hour shifts, travel to other Prisma Health Urgent Care locations as needed, and strong teamwork in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: Must be certified or registered as a Medical Assistant through an accredited organization (e.g., AMT for RMA/NHA or AAMA for CMA).
- Experience: 1+ year of healthcare experience preferred (urgent care or ER a plus); willing to train outstanding new graduates
- Skills: Proficiency in venipuncture, injections, and clinical procedures
- Technical Skills: Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, EPIC preferred
- Flexibility: Ability to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Team Player: A positive, proactive approach to patient care and collaboration
