Job Summary
Record patients' medical history, vital signs, and test results in electronic medical records while interviewing patients to obtain necessary information. Prepare treatment rooms by setting up instruments, managing supply inventory, and restocking exam rooms according to department protocol. Assist patients with transfers, dressing, and positioning while accompanying them to exam rooms. Monitor biohazard and sharps daily, track prescription refills, and process lab requisitions and imaging orders. Answer clinical phone calls, schedule STAT requests, and obtain prior authorizations as needed. Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all policies while working assigned shifts in a medical office setting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a medical assistant program
- Computer experience with EMR knowledge
- Professional appearance
- Strong medical terminology
- Must demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills
- Excellent work ethic, including integrity, positive attitude, productive, organized, treats leadership with respect, excellent attendance, continuously learning and willing to ask for assistance
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a detail oriented, fast-paced setting
- Medical assistant certification
- Valid CPR certification
- Able to work 40 hours per week
- Ability to see details at close range
- Ability to listen and understand information through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to read and understand information in writing
- Ability to communicate information in speaking so others will understand
- Daily uses of hands to type, file, and write/sign documents
- Minimum lifting requirements of 25 pounds to transfer equipment, help patients with positioning, and pack/unpack supplies
- Frequent bending, twisting, and position changes to assist patients
