Job Summary
Medical Assistant in outpatient/primary care at Lurie Children’s Austin Hope Center. Performs phlebotomy and specimen processing, administers injections (intramuscular, subcutaneous), and other medications; conducts ECGs and downloads telemetry data; supports clinic flow and provides back-up for administrative tasks (scheduling, check-in/check-out); obtains patient history and intake information; maintains clinic area and supplies; ensures compliance with disinfection/sterilization protocols; may direct High Level Disinfection tasks; completes Healthcare Provider CPR training; works with pediatric patients and families; requires a high school diploma and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program; CMA or RMA preferred but not required; some college preferred; BLS certification required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Successful completion of a formal Medical Assistant program
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not required
- Some college, preferred
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
