Job Summary
Schedule appointments, register patients, and collect co-pays while verifying insurance eligibility and prior authorizations. Manage the EHR system by documenting vital signs, entering charges, and scanning patient records. Perform minor clinical tasks including suture removal, CLIA waived lab testing, and assisting providers with examinations. Coordinate OB/GYN scheduling and manage inventory for front and back office supplies. Maintain a sanitized environment and ensure patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of PC and applications specific to the department
- Ability to use current EHR technology and information systems
- Competence in systems designed to check insurance eligibility and benefits
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation processes and information required to schedule patients
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation requirements for PR-4 exams
- Knowledge of proper procedure for obtaining medical records from outside agencies or providers
- Proficiency in healthcare quality programs
- Knowledge of processes for patient scheduling
- Knowledge of what can be an urgent issue and when to notify the site nurse or provider immediately
- Knowledge of post-operative complications
- Knowledge of CLIA waived laboratory tests and hospital and CLIA lab policies and procedures
- Ability to conduct annual lab competencies as assigned by the hospital laboratory
- Knowledge of proper specimen handling, labeling, and transportation techniques
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve
- Ability to earn trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism
- Ability to maintain composure in highly stressful or adverse situations
- Ability to perform tasks with care and make few, if any errors
