Job Summary
Conduct patient care including rooming, vital signs, medication reconciliation, and allergy reviews. Perform procedures, venipuncture, specimen collection, and CLIA-approved waived lab tests. Administer medications and vaccines, complete point-of-care testing, and track lab results. Assist with insurance authorizations, appointment scheduling, and referrals while maintaining a clean environment and stocked supplies. Work 12-hour shifts across multiple urgent care locations on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT
- 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant
- 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) certification
- American Allied Health (AAH) certification
- National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA) certification
- National Health Career Association (NAHP) certification
- National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA) certification
- Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) certification
- Exposure to electronic medical records systems
