Job Summary
Coordinate patient care interventions under clinician direction by collecting and recording visit data, measuring vital signs, and performing point-of-care testing or phlebotomy. Assist the patient care team with efficient workflows and infection prevention through standard precautions, proper dressing changes, and wound care. Provide assistance with activities of daily living and accurately report changes in patient status to the assigned nurse. Mentor new Medical Assistants and support students to ensure their successful enculturation and competence. Communicate pertinent patient information timely while demonstrating advocacy and diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in all practice settings.
Required Qualifications
- Successfully completed first semester in an accredited nursing program
- Successfully completed a medical assistant or patient care technician program
- A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Patient Care Technician certification
- Experience in an office or clinic setting
- Knowledgeable of and follows proper technique for patient care
- Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate staff in a timely manner
- Functions with an awareness and application of safety issues as identified within the institution
- Participates actively in educational activities for department
- Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills
- Patient Care Technician - PCTC - AMCA
- Active certification to practice in Kansas as either Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician
- First Responder - RQI
