Job Summary
Medical Assistant Apprentice in Sea Mar's MA Apprenticeship Program (12 months) to train and prepare for the CCMA test; responsibilities include on-the-job training, completing referrals, administering immunizations, rooming patients, charting, EHR documentation, quality measures (HEDIS, UDS), care coordination with the care team; requires English proficiency, CPR, HIV/AIDS training, online coursework, lab days, and travel between sites; wage progression and apprenticeship structure described.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to spend at least 5 hours per week on online coursework for a full year (unpaid)
- Proof of 7.0 HIV/AIDS training from WA State DOH-approved training provider
- Up-to-date First Aid and CPR training
- Access to computer with internet and required software
- Ability to attend in-person lab days and testing
- Ability to track work hours and skill practice using forms
- Understanding of Registered Apprenticeship Program terms
- Ability to work with a Coach and as part of a primary care team
- Commitment to a career as a Certified Medical Assistant
- Potential costs for training and materials (as described)
- Ability to communicate in English; Spanish and/or Russian preferred and may be required
- Current CPR card
- Prior experience in Family Medicine preferred
- Must be able to perform MA Apprentice duties at the highest scope of work pending employer judgment
- Proficient with electronic health records and related software
- Basic mathematical and reasoning abilities
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, SharePoint, EHR systems)
