Job Summary
Organize patient flow, prepare exam rooms, and collect patient histories while charting and relaying instructions. Perform screenings including blood pressure, spirometry, and EKGs, and conduct blood draws and basic lab testing as needed. Assist physicians with physical exams and coordinate with the office team on scheduling, phone answers, and managing referrals and prior authorizations. Maintain inventory of clinical equipment and supplies. Requires at least two years of outpatient experience, phlebotomy certification preferred, and ability to multi-task under time pressure.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of medical assistant program or equivalent training/experience
- Must possess strong customer service skills
- Must be able to multi-task
- Ability to function under pressure of time demands
- Eye-hand and gross body coordination skills
- Extensive walking
- Ability to concentrate on details in spite of interruptions
- Attend to tasks for more than 30 minutes at a time
- Ability to understand and relate theories behind several related concepts
- Remember multiple tasks given over long periods of time
Desired Qualifications
- Phlebotomist certification preferred
- Certification as a medical assistant preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records
- At least 2 years of experience in an outpatient medical office
