Job Summary
Medical Assistant role at AFC handling clinical care from triage and venipuncture to front-desk responsibilities and insurance verification. Responsibilities include greeting and triaging patients, collecting vitals/histories, performing CLIA-waived testing, assisting with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy; registering patients, verifying insurance eligibility, collecting co-pays, reconciling payments, maintaining EMR accuracy; educating patients on procedures and financial expectations; participating in daily huddles and ensuring HIPAA/compliance standards. Requires completion of an accredited MA program, active MA certification at hire, 1+ year experience with insurance verification/patient registration, BLS certification, EMR proficiency (Experity preferred), venipuncture skills, ability to work evenings/weekends, and willingness to float to nearby centers.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire
- At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration
- Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within defined onboarding period
- Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued
- EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); familiarity with payer portals (e.g., Waystar)
- Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills
- Must successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check
- Full availability including evenings/weekends and float to nearby centers as needed
