Job Summary
Room patients by obtaining vitals, chief complaints, and medical histories; prepare for exams and assist physicians during procedures. Perform point-of-care testing including ECGs and wound care, while administering medications and immunizations. Update electronic medical records in Epic, manage the in-basket, and handle prescription refills and chart preparation. Clean and stock clinical rooms and answer phones to create patient encounters. This role requires 32 hours per two-week pay period with Monday through Friday core hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including some travel within 45 miles of home. Candidates must complete an accredited training program or hold one year of relevant clinical experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice
- 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting
- Minimum team member availability of 2 shifts (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) per week
- Some travel to various sites around West Michigan
- Team members will not be required to travel over 45 miles (one way) from their home address on file to daily work location
- Under direct general supervision of the registered nurse/provider
- Following hospital policy and procedure
- Providing nursing care to patients
- Rooming patients (obtaining vitals, chief complaint and taking medical histories, medication reconciliation)
- Preparing patients for exam and/ or assisting physician during exam
- Point of Care (POC) testing, electrocardiograms (ECGs), wound care
- Preparing and Administering medications including immunizations/ Injections
- Updating patient electronic medical record (Epic)
- Clean & stock rooms
- Answering phones and creating patient encounters
- Prescription medication refills and other clinical administrative work (chart prep, Epic In-basket management)
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
- One of the following Required within 120 Days: AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)

- Compliance with MMR, Varicella, Tdap, and Influenza vaccine requirement
