Job Summary
Perform IV placement, administer injections, and obtain blood specimens via venipuncture while maintaining specimen integrity and following practice procedures. Room patients, obtain vitals, keep infusion rooms clean, and account for medical supply stock. Conduct patient follow-up by contacting patients post-treatment to monitor for adverse reactions, answer routine questions, and assist clinical team members with clinically oriented phone calls. Uphold PHI standards and HIPAA compliance while preparing for patient visits and coordinating appointments. Manage EMR tasks, faxing, and printing for referring providers, and assist with copay and free medication programs. Maintain a safe work environment by complying with legal regulations and participate in on-the-job training for IV, phlebotomy, and port certifications.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from a designated medical assistant program OR 2 years of relative working experience as a certified medical assistant, or in a specialty field where job responsibilities or basic qualifications have been utilized
- Must be able to draw blood
- Must be able to administer biologic injections
- Must be able to start IV's (only if allowed per state law)
- Demonstrates competency in patient care standards required for safe delivery of services as evidenced by completion of orientation and appropriate competencies
- Basic level computer skills (for example: start up and shut down computer, use mouse to point and click, start and close programs, switch between programs, save files, print documents, access information on-line etc.)
- Willingness to cross-cover, if needed, at other surrounding clinics (Tooele, American Fork, Layton, Murray)
