Job Summary
Escort patients to examination rooms, take and record vital signs, and collect patient health history. Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests, and may prepare and administer non-intravenous injections. Assist in physical examinations, review laboratory results, and communicate changes to clinicians. Set up examination rooms, maintain and sterilize equipment, and move patients safely. Process prescriptions, collect co-payments, and manage office supplies and inventory. Maintain medical records, schedule appointments, and handle administrative tasks. Collaborate with insurers to verify coverage and obtain prior authorizations. Comply with departmental policies, attend meetings, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as a non-exempt staff member earning $20.60 to $31.94.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Medical Assistant credential, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health (ARMA, NHA, etc.)
