Job Summary
Greets patients, escorts them to exam rooms, and takes vital signs while preparing for allergy prick testing, spirometry, and biologic injections. Administers allergy injections and obtains blood or buccal samples as ordered, monitoring for adverse reactions and maintaining emergency equipment. Documents assessments and care delivery in the electronic medical record, enters charges, and schedules radiology or lab tests. Manages clinical supply inventory, verifies insurance, handles billing and collections, and follows up on referrals and authorizations. Answers patient calls, scribes for providers, and collaborates with physicians on scheduling and process improvements. Ensures HIPAA compliance, completes required safety training, and reports incidents to management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Understanding of OSHA guidelines for ambulatory practices
- Understanding of medical record documentation standards
- Understanding of medical coding based on the medical record notes to ensure accurate billing
- Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
- Knowledge of electronic medical records, practice management and word processing software
- Good communication skills and interaction with physicians
- Neat, professional appearance
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of one year of experience in a medical practice
- Completion of formal education
- CMA/RMA from an accredited program or ABR-OE
