Job Summary
Medical Assistant positioned to support wound care and chronic/slowly healing wound management under a provider or RN. Responsibilities include assisting in wound dressing procedures, implementing established treatment programs, patient and caregiver education for home care, maintaining treatment records, reporting to physicians/nurses, assisting in minor procedures, acting as scribe when applicable, and transcribing as directed. Additional duties involve adhering to scope-of-practice guidelines, participating in data collection for performance improvement, maintaining patient safety and HIPAA compliance, coordinating supplies/equipment, preparing rooms, and ensuring proper patient positioning and equipment readiness. Key skills include medical terminology, basic office tech (Word, Outlook, Excel), strong communication, teamwork, and a patient-centered approach. The role requires a High School diploma or GED and an active MA license/certification, with at least one year in a healthcare setting and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED certification
- MA with active license/certification in appropriate state (Diploma or degree from a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program; State Certification preferred but not required)
- BLS AHA certification
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication in American English
- One (1) year in healthcare setting requirement
