Job Summary
Medical Assistant sought to support Somers Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine teams across multiple locations. Responsibilities include assisting with patient flow, escorting patients to/from exam rooms, coordinating and implementing patient care plans, recording visit reasons and pertinent patient information, acting as liaison between physician and patient, taking vital signs and other routine assessments, specimen collection and proper labeling, maintaining orderly examination rooms and supplies, preparing equipment for procedures, adhering to infection control practices and PPE usage, coordinating diagnostic testing and scheduling follow-up appointments, pre-visit chart preparation, ensuring treatment-plan compliance, and handling clerical tasks (scanning, triage, and efficient patient flow). Strong communication, organization, and HIPAA-compliant practices are required; familiarity with Athena EHR and Microsoft Office is highly preferred. Availability Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm; pay range $18.00–$23.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required
- Certificated Medical Assistant or minimum 6 months experience preferred
- 1+ year(s) of experience working for a healthcare practice or hospital
- Familiar with medical terminology
- Ability to function as an effective team member
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Athena EHR application highly preferred
