Job Summary

Conduct patient care and treatment assistance under clinical supervision by measuring vital signs, documenting medical histories, and performing routine diagnostic and laboratory tests including blood draws. Provide medication education classes and support physicians during clinic visits while maintaining electronic medical records. Apply trauma-informed care principles throughout all interactions to ensure a safe, respectful environment for individuals served. Maintain accurate staffing reports and communicate effectively with patients, families, and co-workers. Requires current drivers license, insurability under Center insurance, and completion of all mandated trainings.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from standard high school or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from one of the following organizations: RMA, CMA, or CCMA
  • Current drivers license
  • Insurable under Center insurance
  • Ability to pass and maintain all Center-mandated trainings
  • Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of health care laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of medical diagnoses and procedures
  • Knowledge of accepted medical treatment programs
  • Knowledge of community health and nursing care principles, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to provide patient care
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records
  • Ability to explain public health laws
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to read and comprehend correspondence, memos, reports, medical information, physicians orders and prescription labels
  • Ability to count, add and subtract
  • Knowledge of fractions and calculate medication doses
  • Ability to write memos, letters, staffing summary reports and medical information
  • Ability to relate verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous and effective fashion with co-workers, consumers and families, agencies and the public
  • Display a customer service orientation
  • Skilled in the use of general office equipment and network computers and applicable software, such as word processing, database, spreadsheet and office management software (Microsoft Office)
  • Travel may be required
