Job Summary
The Medical Assistant supports clinical care in Women’s Care, assisting with patient preparation, examinations, testing, phlebotomy (where applicable), injections, and documentation in electronic medical records.Responsibilities include preparing patients and rooms, recording vital signs and medical history, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and safety standards, providing patient education as directed, coordinating with providers and front office, and participating in team and professional development activities. Qualifications emphasize a High School diploma or GED, MA training (preferred certification within 120 days in FL), CPR/BLS readiness, and experience in OB/GYN or primary care as a plus. Strong communication, organizational skills, and proficiency with EMR (eCW) are desired. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- (FL Only) Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within the first 120 days of employment
- Graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR served in the Armed Forces as a Medical Technician with honorable discharge
- Current CPR and/or BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of employment via Women’s Care training
- Experience working in OBGYN or Primary Care a plus
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable
- Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions
- Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members
- Must possess good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups
- Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application, preferably eCW
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual
