Job Summary
Conduct clinical intake by measuring vital signs such as height, weight, respiration, pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, documenting accurately in the EMR. Administer immunizations under provider direction, including providing Vaccine Information Statements and updating OSIIS. Collect patient specimens like throat and nasal swabs following established protocols. Utilize the EMR to complete assigned tasks and maintain accurate documentation while communicating effectively with patients, providers, and team members. Identify patient concerns or issues and escalate appropriately. May float within the clinic to maintain business continuity and serve as a liaison for rural clinic visits.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrated proficiency of core competencies within 90 days of employment, including foundational clinical skills
- Accurate and timely documentation
- Reliability in assigned workflows
- Openness to coaching and feedback
- Commitment to continued skill development
- Must complete and pass CPR course within 90 days of employment
- Possess intermediate computer skills, including data entry and typing
- Knowledge of instrumentation used in lab point of care testing, as directed, within 90 days
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information in accordance with HIPAA and Variety Care policy
- Ability to effectively communicate with the patient population
- Ability to work in a multi-faceted, fast-paced work environment
- Able to lift at least 25 pounds
- Able to assist patients onto and off exam table when asked or directed
Desired Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certificate preferred; demonstrated proficiency in foundational clinical competencies may be considered in lieu of certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Speak, write and comprehend
- Previous clinic or primary practice experience
