Job Summary
Medical Assistant to prepare patients for examination, administer immunizations, perform simple medical procedures, and handle administrative and clinical duties. Responsibilities include greeting patients, obtaining chief complaint, taking vital signs, assisting with laboratory requisitions and specimen handling, updating patient charts, administering injections under a provider's direction, performing routine tests (BS, UA, pregnancy, strep, TB tests), maintaining equipment and exam rooms, managing supplies and inventory, maintaining vaccine storage temperatures, calling patients with test results, supporting the Medical Assistant Supervisor, and occasionally supervising or training students or temporary staff. Requires strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work in a team, excellent communication, and adherence to policies; familiarity with EHR and office technology is expected.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of a program for Medical Assistants
- Graduate of an accredited 2-year Medical Assistant associates degree program (not required but highly preferred)
- Ability to pass MA Certification/Registration exam within the first six months of employment
- Current CPR certification
