Job Summary
Assist clinicians and nursing staff in medical care; prepare patients for exams by taking vital signs and documenting chief complaints; assist with exams and minor in-office procedures (BP, respiration, heart rate/pulse, temp, ear irrigation, EKGs) and serve as chaperone as needed; coordinate and manage patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling; provide clerical support with medical records, lab results, authorizations, X-Rays, and billing information; maintain a clean, functional environment and handle sterilization/disinfection per OSHA; order supplies and manage medications/tasks; develop and maintain effective communication with patients and external contacts; participate in onboarding/simulation training; works under direct supervision of providers and interacts with multiple staff and external contacts to support patient care.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Completion of an approved medical assistant training program
- BLS certification
- Active Medical Assistant Certification
- Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use
