The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of urological services, performing administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. Responsibilities include coordinating appointments with physicians and staff, greeting patients, measuring vital signs, recording medical histories, patient education on medications and disease management, preparing patients for examinations, performing routine screening tests, assisting physicians with exams, phlebotomy and collection of lab specimens, performing EKGs, assisting with in-office X-ray and procedures, preparing and administering medications with physician authorization, wound care and dressing changes, CPR when needed, maintaining accurate documentation, managing patient logs and prescription ledgers, ensuring efficient back-office flow, conducting new patient work-ups, updating patient histories, room setup, consent form accuracy, scribing per physician flow, preparing for next-day visits, and assisting in training new personnel. The role requires adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, CMS guidelines, and overall compliance with healthcare regulations; prior MA training and certifications are preferred, with some office experience especially in urology valued. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with proficiency in EMR and practice-management software and the ability to work independently under pressure in a patient-care environment.
