Job Summary
Support patient healthcare management and clinical procedures in a culturally competent manner, performing hands-on care including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and preparing treatment rooms. Prioritize multiple requests by integrating tasks appropriately, communicating clearly with patients and team members, and utilizing technology resources for documentation and locating clinical information. Coordinate specialty laboratory testing processes, including specimen collection logistics and shipment tracking, while ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulatory guidelines. Assist providers with physical examinations and educate patients on examination procedures, maintaining accurate patient records and inventorying supplies.
Required Qualifications
- Approved MA Certifications: CMA- Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)®
- RMA- Registered Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant- National Healthcare Association (NHA)
- NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant (NHA - NCCT)
- NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
- HIV & AIDS Certification
- Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional Continue Education (CE) Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required
- Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications
- Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders
- Experience with electronic medical records (Epic is commonly used at many academic medical centers)
- Knowledge of integrative or lifestyle medicine principles
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient clinic while providing compassionate, whole-person care
