Job Summary
Assist physicians with exams and procedures, obtain vital signs and patient history, perform EKGs and venipuncture, prepare patient charts with pertinent medical information, schedule diagnostic tests, maintain infection control and patient privacy, manage patient flow, and provide coverage as needed. Maintain accurate charting in EHR per Joint Commission standards, stock and disinfect care areas, and handle related office and clerical duties. Requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant certificate/diploma program, HS diploma or equivalent, and English communication skills; BLS healthcare provider certification and local fire safety training are required within specified timelines. Proficiency with scheduling software and familiarity with medical terminology (including IDX, Cerner, ProSolv, AS400) preferred; Spanish language skill is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Req High school or equivalent
- Req Specialized/technical training Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.
- Req Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
