Job Summary
Medical Assistant role supporting clinical teams at Martin's Point Health Care in Portland, ME. Responsibilities include coordinating patient visits, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, assisting with EKGs, PFTs, eye and auditory screenings, immunizations and injections, labeling and processing lab specimens, preparing exam rooms, and educating patients. Works under the direction of an on-site RN and clinical leadership to ensure efficient workflows, accurate documentation, and optimal patient care. Requires High School diploma or equivalent and active Medical Assistant certification (AAMA/AMT/NHA/NCCT) with the option of advanced licensure for II level (LPN). BLS certification and prior experience in a physician's office or outpatient clinic are expected. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship and is a full-time clinical support role with potential for ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT and active certification for duration of employment
- Completion of a two year accredited Medical Assistant Program/Associate Degree preferred (for Clinical Support II)
- Licensure or certification as Licensed Practical Nurse (for Clinical Support II) or equivalent depending on level
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Related experience in a physician's office, medical setting or outpatient clinic
- Demonstrated ability to obtain and record vital signs, perform EKGs and screenings, assist with immunizations and injections, schedule appointments, prepare lab specimens, and manage patient records
- Ability to work under supervision of provider and collaborate with care team
- Ability to perform direct patient care services and follow clinical protocols
