Job Summary
Greet patients arriving at the clinic, interview them to obtain medical history and vital signs, and prepare them for examination or surgical procedures. Assist physicians during exams and surgeries by handing instruments, administering medications, and maintaining sterile fields while assessing patient conditions. Collect and log laboratory specimens, perform routine tests, and accurately document all procedures in medical records. Schedule appointments, process drug refills, and ensure proper consent forms are obtained before treatment. Clean examination rooms, dispose of biohazard waste, and inventory supplies to keep equipment stocked and functional. Respond to emergencies based on facility protocols and notify the physician or registered nurse of any distress.
Required Qualifications
- One (1)+ year experience in a medical setting
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
- Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function
- Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations
- Interpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and team mate support needs
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving
- Basic to intermediate computer operation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position
- general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
