Job Summary
Medical Assistant in outpatient/primary care at Lurie Children’s Hospital performs phlebotomy and specimen processing, administers injections and vaccines, conducts ECGs and Holter telemetry, assists physicians and staff, and supports clinic flow. Responsibilities include patient intake and history, chart/documentation in the Electronic Medical Record, rooming patients, scheduling, basic clerical tasks, maintaining inventory and basic disinfection/sterilization protocols, and completing required trainings (e.g., Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS). Strong communication and pediatric-friendly interpersonal skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (or GED)
- Successful completion of a formal Medical Assistant program
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
