Job Summary
Medicaid Specialist role focused on Medicare/Medicaid billing and follow-up within UofL Health. Responsibilities include monitoring DNFB claims, ensuring electronic filing of claims, identifying paper-submitted payers, following up on unpaid Medicaid claims, maintaining patient responsibility statements, reviewing EOBs/remittance advice, documenting follow-up efforts in AR systems, and auditing balances for accuracy. Requires thorough understanding of eligibility, payer determination, CMS guidelines, HIPAA privacy, and effective communication with patients, physicians, and other stakeholders. Strong emphasis on accuracy, productivity, and adherence to organizational policies; engages in continuous collaboration to reduce denials and enhance payment workflows.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent (required)
- One (1) year of patient registration, billing or equivalent experience (required)
- Working knowledge of medical and insurance terms (preferred)
- Experience with EOBs and contractual adjustments (preferred)
- Knowledge of HCFA billing with Insurance or Government agencies (preferred)
