Job Summary
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school library media program to promote student learning and teacher effectiveness. Provide instructional resources and services for a student-centered educational process while collaborating with teachers to plan teaching and learning strategies. Instruct students and staff in information literacy, advocate for reading and lifelong learning, and work with leadership to ensure flexible access to print and electronic resources. Maintain accurate inventories of materials, manage collection development with the Media and Technology Advisory Committee, and evaluate the program against accepted standards. Organize facilities to maximize resource access, participate in budgetary processes, and adhere to copyright laws and district policies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Library Science or minimum of 18 hours completed toward a Master's degree in Library Science from a regionally accredited college/university
- North Carolina Certification in Media (00076) or eligible to be licensed
- Knowledge of computer technology
- Solid understanding of North Carolina Standard Course of Study for media and all grades for the assigned level
- Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data, work with records processes and do extensive reading and research
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and talk or hear
- Must be able to walk
- Must be able to sit
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Must be able to climb or balance
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to taste or smell
- Must have close vision
- Must have distance vision
- Must have color vision
- Must have peripheral vision
- Must have depth perception
