Job Summary
Develop, implement, and direct a comprehensive library media program to support the educational philosophy and needs of the school. Plan, implement, and administer the media program; design, conduct, and evaluate learning activities that teach information literacy; build and manage diverse collections; organize and supervise routines for efficient operation of the media center. Requires a bachelor’s degree and certification as a K-12 media specialist, with expertise in print, nonprint, and electronic information resources, library management systems, instructional technologies, and current educational trends and teaching practices.
Required Qualifications
- Earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Certification as a media specialist, K-12
- Ability to plan, implement and administer a media program; design, conduct, and evaluate learning activities that teach information literacy
- Build and manage collections that include diverse formats
- Organize, establish, and supervise routines and procedures for efficient operation of the media center
- Expertise in print, nonprint and electronic information resources
- Knowledge of library management systems
- Knowledge of current instructional technologies and educational trends
- Computer skills as required for the position
