Job Summary
Operate and maintain the manual and automated card catalog and circulation system, assigning barcodes, issuing materials, and entering student information into the database. Generate inventory reports, process fines, and place labels on books while making simple repairs and shelving materials. Assist students and teachers in material selection, reference access, and literacy promotion. Keep accurate inventory of equipment, perform minor computer troubleshooting, and attend technology in-service training. Maintain professional conduct to project a good public image with students, community, and employees. Work 8:10 a.m. to 11:35 p.m. with a requirement for Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
- Associate's Degree or 60 semester hours at an institution of higher education
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through passage of a formal state or local academic assessment approved by the State Board of Education: Michigan Test for Teacher Certification – Professional Readiness Exam (MTTC) or the original Basic Skills Test (MTTC)
- A passing score of at least 480 on the evidence-based reading and writing section of the SAT and 530 on the mathematics section in lieu of the Basic Skills Test or Professional Readiness Exam
- ETS Parapro Assessment – A passing score of 460 is required
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Trained or willing to be trained
- Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students, if needed
