Job Summary
Discuss assigned duties with the classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts and assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts. Supervise groups moving to the cafeteria, library, playground, and other areas as assigned while planning, preparing, and developing various teaching aids. Operate learning aids and technological equipment, assist the teacher in preparation of reports and materials, and confer with parents on student progress.
Required Qualifications
- Two-year degree or 48 college semester hours
- Evidence of good written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, etc.
- Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations
- Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics of people or things
- Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information
- Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, evaluations, policies, etc. using prescribed formats
- Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Requires the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form
- Requires the ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions
