Job Summary
Monitor media inquiry phone lines and email inboxes, distributing requests to appropriate staff and following up on incoming inquiries. Track, compile, and circulate media coverage in English and Spanish to staff in real time, while compiling news clips into comprehensive daily summaries. Help develop and maintain media lists, distribute press releases through software systems, and post materials to Planned Parenthood websites. Draft and send the team's daily tipsheet to reporters and coordinate conference call logistics for internal and external media engagements. This role supports federal, state, and Latino advocacy communications teams within PPFA's Communications & Culture division, focusing on expanding reach in new media and managing relationships with external vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of diverse groups, working with a diverse workforce, and sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences
- Proficiency with Google products (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Calendar), e-mail marketing tools, and media management systems
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or two years of work experience preferred
- Excellent writing, organizational, and customer service skills
- 1-2 years of media relations, customer service, or work experience preferred
- Interest in and/or familiarity with the news media landscape strongly preferred
- Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights issues preferred
- Detail-oriented in a fast-paced multi-task environment
- Quick to learn new systems and processes
- Great at troubleshooting and finding innovative ways to solve problems
- Some Spanish proficiency is preferred, but not required
