Job Summary
Med Technologist MLS responsible for performing laboratory testing with precision, verifying results, setting up cultures and rapid microbiology kits, performing venipuncture to collect blood from patients across age groups, and maintaining quality control and compliance with CLIA and HIPAA standards. Responsibilities include operating and calibrating laboratory equipment, maintaining supplies, evaluating new procedures, training colleagues, and ensuring accurate patient identification and specimen labeling. This role requires strong knowledge of safety practices, standard work procedures, and participation in ongoing education and quality improvement within MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. The position is full-time day shift with a focus on microbiology, hematology, and general clinical laboratory duties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science degree required or qualifies as an MT under CLIA high complexity testing personnel qualifications
- Educational transcript required for verification
- MLS/MT (ASCP) registry required or completed within two years of hire
