Job Summary
Administer, pour, pass, and document all routinely prescribed medications per physician orders and the five rights, including PRN medications. Order medications from pharmacy 7 days prior to stockout and notify the Wellness Director if delivery is delayed. Document administration in resident medical records, date and initial bubble packs, and record vital signs prior to administration. Observe and report resident reactions or side effects immediately. Assist with resident care tasks such as toileting, grooming, bathing, feeding, dressing, and moving residents. Report any medication errors to the Wellness Director instantly. Assist in developing and reviewing resident care plans while ensuring privacy and dignity. Detect and report unsafe conditions that may harm residents.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of state approved Medication Administration training
- First Aid certification as required by the ALF regulations
- QMAP in the state of CO
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience administering medication in an assisted living setting
- Must be capable of making decisions with the interest of the residents at heart
- Must be supportive of company policies and decisions
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procurement manuals, etc
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English
- Must be able to understand and follow written and oral directions
- Must show good judgement in recognizing symptoms indicative of a resident's change in condition
- Must be able to work with licensed nurses
- Must be aware of limitations and not attempt to exceed these limitations
- Must attend monthly in-service education and training within the community
- Minimum three years' experience in senior living
- Passion to work with seniors
- Previous experience with an Assisted Living community
Desired Qualifications
- Some previous experience in health-care
- Must have experience working in Assisted Living or Memory Care with a good work record
