Job Summary
Review laboratory policies and procedures, recommending improvements and staying current with organizational communications. Operate all laboratory equipment, performing maintenance, calibration, and quality control as necessary. Perform patient testing on blood, body fluids, and tissues across chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, hematology, urinalysis, blood gases, coagulation, and serology sections. Identify and correct specimen or instrument issues affecting patient care and participate in proficiency testing and special projects. Perform phlebotomy duties and handle biohazardous materials using appropriate safety devices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science Degree including completion of an approved Clinical Laboratory Science program
- MT (ASCP, AMT or equivalent)
- Associates Degree in Science or Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Technician Clinical Program
- MLT(ASCP, AMT or equivalent) or 3 months documented training in each specialty in which high complexity testing is performed
- Technically competent in trained laboratory sections and is capable of performing patient care for all age groups

- Able to apply, perform, and implement trained laboratory procedures
- Able to perform each trained test method, use instruments as instructed, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration procedures related to each test performed
- A working knowledge of reagent stability and storage
- Apply quality control policies and procedures of the laboratory
- An awareness of the factors that influence test results
- Able to assess and verify the validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality control sample values prior to reporting patient test results
- Possesses and displays a strong knowledge and understanding of the standards of practice for their position including, if and when applicable, commensurate computer skills; population specific and general competencies; organizational skills, time and project management
- Possesses a vigorous and enthusiastic desire to learn and to grow both personally and professionally, and to improve one's skills in order to deliver the best possible care for our customers
