Job Summary
Administer medications to residents following state regulations and established policies while maintaining security of the medication cart and narcotic keys. Accurately complete documentation, review MARs, and verify resident identity for every drug delivery. Observe residents for changes in psychosocial or physical condition, report concerns to the Wellness Director, and assist with activities of daily living including ambulation and hygiene. Engage residents in social activities and maintain clean, orderly environments. Communicate professionally with physicians and specialists, attend wellness meetings, and follow safety protocols for infection control and hazardous waste. Full-time and part-time roles require weekend, evening, or night coverage; candidates must pass background checks and hold state-approved medication administration certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational experience
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, TB test and physical
- Successful completion of a state approved medication administration course
- Other state required certifications to perform job duties as allowed by state regulations
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both residents and staff
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Able to make standard and routine decisions as allowed by state regulation based on training, knowledge gained through job required certification, detailed guidelines, and judgement
- Previous experience as a Certified Med Aide or Medication Technician
- Experience working with older adults
- Previous experience in Assisted Living or Memory Care
- Knowledge of dementia and related diseases
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be available for occasional weekend, evening, or night work if needed to ensure shift coverage
