Job Summary
Coordinate nursing care for assigned patients through direct care, education, and transitions. Perform and document timely assessments, implement focused care plans with goals, and evaluate patient progress. Administer medications accurately, prioritize care based on acuity, and initiate interventions as needed. Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families while maintaining accurate documentation and end-of-shift reports. Delegate care according to skill level and experience. Participate in quality improvement projects and mentor new staff. Work 12-hour weekend-focused shifts in a high-acuity med/surg environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
- Licensed in the state of Wisconsin and in good standing
- Active BLS
- Active ACLS or required to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and support at least 25–50 pounds
- Visual acuity (including color vision) and hearing
- Ability to sustain repetitive movements (e.g. CPR) and maintain physical stamina for long shifts, often running between 8 and 12 hours
- Must possess excellent communication skills

- Maintain timely and accurate documentation via facility policy and procedure
- Knowledge of infection control practices and their relation to patient care outcomes
- Accuracy and attention to detail in performing all job duties
- Assess multiple systems, develop plans of care, provide intervention and education, and assess outcomes of patient care
- Ensure that all orders are carried out timely
- Delegate to appropriate care team members
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members and team members across the organization
- Timely reporting of any safety events and near miss events
- Communicate clearly and respectfully
- Participate in department or organization quality improvement projects
- Participate in the orientation process of new staff
