Job Summary
Provide patient care using the nursing process for adult medical patients with diagnoses including small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. Maintain professional accountability for assigned patients, evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers, and coordinate patient care with other departments while safeguarding patient rights and confidentiality. Perform duties consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards. This Med Surg 5W unit offers an environment to strengthen core skills and manage diverse medical needs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate Degree in Nursing
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Nursing Diploma
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri
- Compact licensure in accordance with state board of nursing regulations
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Completion of BLS certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
