Job Summary

Provide primary health care to adults and children, including inpatient hospital services and after-hours coverage for SSCHC patients. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions in partnership with Advanced Practice Practitioners and team members. Emphasize health promotion, wellness, and disease prevention while including patients in medical decision-making. Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory tests, prescribe medication, and prepare medical patient reports. Participate in training Advanced Practice Practitioners, medical students, and residents. Adhere to all SSCHC policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed as a physician in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Completion of Internal Medicine/Pediatric Residency from an accredited Internal Medicine/Pediatric Program.
  • Board certification or eligible for Board Certification in Internal Medicine and in Pediatrics.
  • Licensed for prescriptive authority in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Insurable for liability coverage as an Internist/Pediatrician.
  • Working knowledge of the social and cultural factors associated with the community's use of social and health care services.
  • Ability to understand patient attitudes and needs, develop and orient program goals and concepts accordingly, and to work effectively toward their accomplishment with all staff members.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, officials, the public, patients, other private and public organizational representative, health care personnel and community groups and organizations.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintains personal composure, evaluate situations and act/react appropriately, and use tact in dealing with visitors, patients and difficult situations.
  • Ability to identify and maintain confidential material.
  • Ability to interpret and conform program operations to applicable laws, rules, regulations and funding source requirements and according to acceptable standards.
  • BLS certification maintained.

Desired Qualifications

  • Spanish speaking preferred.
