Job Summary

Performs pre-visit planning to ensure visit efficiencies and identify care gaps while maintaining a clean, organized environment and preparing exam rooms. Greets patients and families, directs them to exam rooms, and maintains clinic flow by monitoring patient location and wait time. Assists with collecting and documenting patient information including vitals, measurements, health screenings, allergies, and home medications, reporting observations to the nurse or provider. Administers medications, immunizations, and procedures such as blood draws as directed, and assists the provider in the exam process. Prepares for clinic by completing paperwork procedures, ensuring prior authorizations are secured, and communicating supply and equipment needs to the clinic leader.

Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)
  • CMA-Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council
  • Ability to assist and support other primary care locations as requested by leaders and/or the CMG float policy
  • Ability to work with a diverse patient population to promote a culturally competent environment
  • Requires flexibility of time and duties in order to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Night and/or weekend hours may be required during high volume or viral surge periods where additional patient access is needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduate of medical assistant program
  • 6 months of experience in a patient care role
  • Experience in a primary care, urgent care, or specialty care pediatric setting
  • Experience in administering immunizations and other injections
  • Experience with pediatric patients
  • Electronic Health Record proficiency
  • Ability to assist and support other primary care locations as requested by leaders and/or the Children's Medical Group float policy
