Job Summary
Design and deliver innovative solutions for sophisticated scientific instruments and laboratory equipment by collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. Apply expertise in precision engineering, thermal analysis, and mechanical design to create robust, manufacturable products from concept through production. Manage complex mechanical systems while utilizing 3D CAD software, GD&T, and FEA to ensure high-quality output. This role supports the development of life-changing therapies and environmental protection solutions within a global team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development in a technical environment
- Expertise in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and PDM/PLM systems
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFx principles (manufacturability, assembly, serviceability)
- Demonstrated experience with FEA, thermal analysis, and engineering calculations
- Proficiency in mechanical design fundamentals including materials selection, precision mechanisms, and system integration
- Experience with documentation, change control processes, and quality systems (ISO, FDA, etc.)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication
- Strong project management skills and ability to lead technical initiatives
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication capabilities
- Experience working in cross-functional, global teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and engineering analysis tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively
- Ability to travel up to 10-20% as required
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred Fields of Study: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related engineering field
- Professional Engineering (PE) license beneficial
- Knowledge of laboratory/scientific instrumentation preferred
